The Washington Post recently ran this article on housing in Northern Virginia, and the things sellers are doing now to sell their homes. Our market is not the North Virginia market, we are much better off. They are seeing reductions in value across the board while we are still seeing the market appreciate at near normal levels.
The important thing about the article is they are telling you to get back to basics. No longer can you sell a house with an overgrown yard, and crayon marks on the walls.
I did like that they mentioned auctions. The Post spoke with Lynn Garner of Homeland auctions. I met Lynn about 18 months ago to talk to her about holding auctions for us. She has done several now for a few agents and clients in the office, and everyone has been happy with the outcome of each one. In fact the whole auction idea is pretty exciting to me.
